THE MOSQUITO

This is a one minute introduction about the Mosquito.

The mosquito is a very annoying insect.

It lives in tropical, hot countries and bites.

When it bites, it hurts.

The mosquito pricks saliva into our skin, causing it to swell.

There are many different kinds of mosquitos.

Mosquitos are nicknamed ‘Mozzies’by Australians.

They have big wings and a thin narrow body.

They are a midge like Fly.

The female mosquito lays her eggs in water.

Eggs are laid in the shape of a small boat that looks like a raft.

There can be over fifty eggs in each raft.

Many mozzies carry germs which cause disease.

Two of the most common diseases are malaria and yellow fever.

The female mosquito has a sharp mouth part and may bite you.

Attack from mosquitos can be repelled by using oils sprays or burning candles.

They come out mostly at night.

The male mosquito lives for only a week and the Female for two to four weeks.

Be careful if you eat or drink anything too sweet because the mosquito is more likely to attack you.
